1. What exciting new changes are introduced in the Sindbad program?
Your Sindbad loyalty program is offering you a significantly revamped spend-based program. You can now earn miles for every eligible purchase made by you with Oman Air. We have also changed the way you qualify for Tiers by switching to a points-based Tier system.
2. When have you launched the revamped Sindbad program?
The new spend-based Sindbad program has been launched on 1st September 2021.
3. Why are you making these changes?
A spend-based loyalty program lets you earn miles for every US Dollar spent with eligible Oman Air activities. So the more you spend, the more Sindbad miles you earn. It’s that easy and straightforward!.
4. How will I earn Sindbad miles with the spend-based Sindbad Program?
Sindbad miles for Oman Air flights are earned based on the ticket price rather than the distance flown. Blue, Silver and Gold members will earn 4, 5 and 6 miles for every US dollar spent on airfare and add-ons (excluding taxes). If you’re a Blue member, simply multiply your ticket fare (excluding taxes) by 4 to calculate your Sindbad miles. Or multiply by 5 for Silver, and 6 for Gold.
Example: If the fare for your Muscat to Doha Economy Lite Return ticket is OMR 185.300, then your Sindbad miles as a Blue member will be OMR 185.300 x 2.60 (currency exchange rate) = USD 481.78 x 4 = 1928 Sindbad miles as against 110 Sindbad miles based on current mileage calculation.
*Note: Ticket fare does not include fees and taxes, which are not levied by Oman Air.
5. How will the local currency fares be exchanged to US dollars (USD)?
Any ticket purchased in your local currency will be converted to US Dollars (USD) based on the IATA 5-Day Rate applicable on the day of travel. The number of Sindbad miles is calculated on this converted US Dollars (USD) amount.
6. How will the miles for each flight be calculated for a multi-flight journey?
The total Sindbad miles for you journey will be calculated on the basis of the fare paid. The prorated miles value for flights will be credited to your account after each flight is completed.
Example: If the total of OW Economy Class miles from London to Delhi (via Muscat) is 2,800, then the miles credited for the LHR-MCT flight will be 2096 and 704 for the MCT-DEL flight.
7. What will happen to my current Sindbad miles?
The balance of miles in your Sindbad account on the cut-off date has been transferred to the revamped program on a one-to-one basis. For example, if your balance before 1st September 2021 was 24,500 miles, then the same 24,500 miles can be seen after 1st September 2021 as the carry forward.
8. How will bonus miles be calculated for Sindbad Silver and Gold tier members?
On Oman Air flights Sindbad Silver and Gold members will earn bonus miles of 25% and 50% over Blue tier members. That means Silver and Gold members will earn 5 and 6 miles for every US dollar spent on their ticket fare (excluding taxes).
Sindbad Tier | Fare | Bonus miles | Multiplier | Sindbad miles |
---|---|---|---|---|
Blue | USD 250 | --- | 4 | 1000 |
Silver | USD 250 | 25% | 5 | 1250 |
Gold | USD 250 | 50% | 6 | 1500 |
*Note: Ticket fare does not include fees and taxes, which are not levied by Oman Air.
9. Will I earn Sindbad miles on all fare types?
Yes, you are going to earn miles on all Oman Air fare brands (Prime, Smart, Lite and SuperSaver). For certain journeys such as IT fares where the ticket fare cannot be retrieved as well as for Oman Air flights on tickets issued by other airlines, you will earn miles based on the distance travelled and the booking class earning percentage.
10. How are miles added to my account?
There are no changes to the way miles are added to your account. As always, simply quote your Sindbad number at the time of reservation, making sure that the name on your ticket matches the name in your Sindbad account.
